Pursuing Compensation for Dangerous Drug Cases
Approved in 2011, Xarelto®, or as its known by its generic name, rivaroxaban, is a common blood thinner used for many patients throughout the world. It is manufactured by pharmaceutical giant Bayer, with marketing by Johnson & Johnson. This drug brings in billions for its parent companies annually and is prescribed by many medical professionals to prevent clots and other problems with the blood.
As with many drugs, there is a risk of complications. Both the manufacturer and your doctor have a responsibility to warn you of any risks to help mitigate potential dangers. If they did not, or if you were harmed by using Xarelto®, our litigation attorneys can help.
Side Effects & Common Dangers
Xarelto® and many other anticoagulant medications have been linked to internal bleeding, and, because there is no antidote for this condition when caused by Xarelto®, any bleeding can be life threatening. Studies have also suggested a link between Xarelto® and increased liver toxicity, though this link still requires additional study.
It is also important to follow manufacturer’s printed instruction and never stop taking the drug without the supervision of your doctor, as this can lead to stroke, or increased risk of stroke.
While not common, both bleeding and stroke can lead to death and taking or stopping Xarelto® can be dangerous. If you or your loved one is suffering from these serious side effects, contact our dangerous drugs attorneys at the Johnston Law Group.
